1. Visit the cPanel for your site at https://mydomain.com/cpanel replacing mydomain.com with the correct domain name. See our article How do I access my cPanel? for more details.
  2. Once logged in, firstly check in the right column Statistics that there is enough space to store the backup. If not, you will need to clear files or request an account upgrade.
  3. Assuming sufficient space exists, click WordPress management on the left column.
  4. In the panel displaying details about the WordPress site(s), click Backup/Restore
  5. Click the blue Back Up button and allow the process to run. This will take a few minutes at least, and often much longer depending on the size of the website.
  6. When complete, the new backup file will be added to the list of available backups.
    1. Click on the Download link (downward arrow) to download the backup file.
    2. Choose to save the file somewhere safe on your PC.

Note that this process will create a backup containing a copy of all files in the relevant WordPress installation and its database. It will not create a backup of email or any other files, websites or media outside of the specific WordPress installation.

See our article How to make a full back up of your account and website on cPanel for more details on how to make a full account-level backup.
